To ring in the holiday season, RaiseMe is celebrating #12DaysOfKindness. Each day, we’ll feature a new high school student doing outstanding work to serve their communities. Today’s spotlight is on Lana K., a high school senior from Torrance, CA, who helped empower the voices of incarcerated women by sharing their poetry.
Here’s what Lana shared about her community service experience:
What is your act of service?
I assisted children with special needs and developmental delays at summer camp.
Can you share your favorite memory from this act of service?
For one activity we got to go down water slides. The campers had so much fun, and I loved seeing the smiles on their faces.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your service experience?
Small changes can have a big impact in the community.
