To ring in the holiday season, RaiseMe is celebrating #12DaysOfKindness. Each day, we’ll feature a new high school student doing outstanding work to serve their communities. Today’s spotlight is on Rachel S., a high school senior from Miami, FL who has used her gift of acting to raise awareness in her community.
Here’s what Rachel shared about his community service experience:
What is your act of service ?
Put on a collection of one-act plays to raise awareness of teen issues in her community.
Can you share your favorite memory from this act of service?
When people came up to us after the show and told us how much they were moved by our performance.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your service experience?
The best pieces of theatre are the ones that connect to the community and one’s personal experiences.
